Highlights:

--all the old people
--one dude who starts doing the Cotton-Eye Joe and has the steps on lock
--quinceañera girl with a dress bigger than the circle
--lots of kids but particularly the dude who's doing the helicopter with his little girl
--an entire section of Millennials doing dance moves I recognize, oh the nostalgia

i love how castles are like, a fairytale staple and princesses live in them now. those were military installations do you think in 4000 years the irradiated mice that inherit our world will tell stories about princesses living on aircraft carriers

I think an underrated horror trope is “insular christian cult worshipping something that slowly reveals itself to be Very Much Not God”.  I think it speaks something to the bastardized nature of american christian sects like southern baptist and others. I think in a lot of ways the way colonialism pairs with christianity in the americas really makes it demonic in ways that horror makes powerful statements about.

I like the idea of a horror story set in a world built around Discworld/ American Gods rules, where belief literally makes gods real, and one of those sects accidentally creates the God that they’re *actually* worshipping, rather than the one that they *think* that they’re worshipping; and He’s callous and cruel and petty and bloodthirsty because His followers are callous and cruel and petty and bloodthirsty, and they’ve basically been worshipping themselves all along.
